Trays Worth a Closer Look
A tray is doing more work in your home than you probably give it credit for. It corrals the things that would otherwise just drift, the remote, the candle, the small object you set down and forgot about. It gives a surface a reason to look considered rather than cluttered. But a bad tray, one that is too flimsy, too generic, or just the wrong scale, somehow makes things look worse. We have been paying close attention to what makes a tray actually worth buying. Material matters more than people expect. A lacquered tray reads differently than a woven one or a solid piece of marble, and the right choice depends entirely on where it is going and what it needs to do. We have also been thinking about size, because an undersized tray on a large coffee table is its own kind of problem. The pieces here are the ones that hold their own in a room.
