A plain sofa is not a problem in itself. A neutral sofa done well is actually the smartest piece of furniture you can own. The issue is when it just sits there, grey and flat, looking like it came with the apartment rather than like something chosen. That is where the right cushions do real work.

We mean cushions that add color, weight, or texture in a way that makes the whole sofa feel intentional. A linen weave against a cotton base. A deeper tone that anchors a pale piece. Scale that feels considered rather than scattered.

What we look for is quality of fill as much as cover, because a flat cushion helps no one. These are the ones we keep coming back to when a sofa needs something but more furniture is not the answer.
